As I marked my 64th birthday, representing Tamankaduwa, Lankapura, and Higurakgoda in the Polonnaruwa district, a momentous celebration unfolded. Coordinated by more than 125 temples and with the revered presence of over 200 Maha Sangharatna and 8000 adults over 55 years of age, the festival encompassed visits to sacred sites, including the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Nellikulama, Tanthirimalaya Astapala Bodi, and culminating in the Kapruk Pooja to Ravanveli Maha Seya.
This grand program had a noble purpose — to provide an opportunity for economically disadvantaged adults in the Polonnaruwa district to partake in religious worship at these revered shrines. More than a mere pilgrimage, it was a heartfelt gesture to bring joy and spiritual solace to those leading a monotonous life, fostering a sense of community and connection.
The significance of this celebration extends to the agricultural backbone of my business activities. Gratitude was expressed to the hardworking farmers who have steadfastly supported my ventures throughout the years. This event serves as a testament to the symbiotic relationship between my business and the local community, emphasizing the interconnectedness that has fueled growth and prosperity.
As I reflect on this extraordinary celebration, I am humbled by the unity, gratitude, and spirituality that permeated the entire event. This grand pilgrimage was not just a personal milestone but a collective expression of appreciation, shared joy, and a reaffirmation of the bonds that tie us all together.
